How to change Name in PAN Card after Marriage

PAN card consists of the following information which includes name, date of birth, gender and PAN number of the cardholder. Women generally change their names by adding the husband’s title behind her name after marriage. So, steps mentioned to know the process to change name in PAN card after marriage are as follows:

Step 1: Log on to the website of TIN-NSDL or UTIITSL for making any kind of changes or corrections in your PAN Card.

Step 2:  The applicant needs to fill the form carefully and mention the details which should be the same in supporting documents.

Step 3: One must not forget to mention details regarding PAN and select only that box that is in front of your name.

Step 4: Click on the option’ Validate’ to make sure that each information provided is correct in the form.

Step 5: After being confirmed, click ‘submit’ button

Step 6: After that, payment should be made for processing the request.

Step 7: One can make the payment using various modes such as Debit Card, Credit Card, Cash Card or Net banking.

Step 8: Once the payment completed successfully, makes the downloading of the PAN Application form and takes a printout.

Step 9: Affixed two recent passport size photograph on the form and sign across it.

Step 10: Provide self-attested document proof to support the change of name in PAN form

Step 11: If  a change in PAN Card application applied through NSDL, then application sent to NSDL through post and if a change in PAN Card application applied through UTIITSL, then application sent to UTIITSL by post.

Step 12: You can use the application number to track the status of  the PAN application (Change of name in PAN after marriage).

Required documents for changing name in PAN by a woman after marriage

  • Marriage Certificate/Invitation card of marriage
  • Publication of name change in official Gazette
  • Copy of Passport showing name of husband
  • Certificate issued by a Gazetted officer (Only for the change in Applicant’s name)

Paperless e-KYC for PAN name change after marriage

If an applicant chooses the option of paperless e-KYC at the time of PAN Card form filling. Then in that case, applicant does not have to submit additional documents and not need to send PAN application form to NSDL or UTTIITSL via post.

Process to carry out paperless e-KYC:

  • Aadhaar based e-KYC with digital signature
  • Using scanned documents/Digi Locker documents with e-Sign
  • Using scanned/Digi Locker docs with Digital Signature Certificate

  • Form can be filled through both TIN-NSDL or UTITSL website.
  • One can apply via online method by the way of e-sign using of Aadhar OTP.
  • Even the process of applying PAN card is online, one needs to send the self-attested copy of the form and proof of documents by the post.
  • Fee to make changes in PAN card is Rs 107, if the address of communication is in India and Rs 1017, if the address of communication is outside India.
