How to link Aadhaar to Mutual Funds
Mutual funds are amongst the various other things you need to link to Aadhaar, as per the latest directives from the government. This is expected to help the government decipher the legality of any transactions and investments, and ensure that the necessary record is kept for all of them. The last date to do so is the 31st March, 2018.
Note: Before you do this, you need to ensure that you have linked your phone number to Aadhaar.
You can link Aadhar to Mutual Funds with 4 different methods:
Follow these easy steps to complete the linking process:
Step 1: Ensure that your email id and mobile number should be linked to your mutual funds investments account.
Step 2: Visit the websites for the following and complete the 2-minute registration process on each one of them:
These are all Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTAs). Once you complete the process with each one of these, all mutual fund serviced by these RTAs would have your Aadhar linked.
You can only use this method if you are registered with Karvy. For the registration process, you need to send an SMS to +91 9212993399 from the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar and Mutual fund folio. The SMS needs to be in the following format:
ADRLNK <space> PAN Number <space> Aadhaar number <space> Y
Example: ADRLNK AABPA4321Q 123456789012 Y
Please note that the “Y” in the above SMS stands for your consent to authenticate your Aadhaar across all Karvy serviced Mutual Funds.
A funds house is an asset management company. A lot of individuals use funds house to manage their Mutual Funds. If you are also someone who has done that, you can link your Aadhaar to Mutual funds in the following simple steps:
1: Visit your funds’ house website.
2: Enter your PAN number to log in.
3: Select “you are not KYC complaint”.
Step4: Provide your registered mobile number and follow the upcoming steps to complete the process.
When the registrar follows the physical KYC, it is known as the offline process. The process is beneficial for those investors who don’t have an email ID or mobile number mentioned on their mutual fund account. RTAs like CAMS and Karvy provide this service. You can link your Aadhar to Mutual Funds via the following steps:
1: Visit your RTAs website.
2: Download the Registration form provided there.
3: Fill the form, and make sure you add the folio number and attach a self-attached Aadhaar card.
4: Submit the form to registrar’s office or customer care center.
