How to access UAN account after changing mobile number

All the communication regarding the EPF is sent to the employee’s mobile number that is linked to their respective UAN via SMS. However, at certain times employees change their mobile number and forgot to update the same on the EPFO Member’s Portal. It makes difficult for them to access their UAN account. 

Here, we have mentioned the process of how the employees can update their mobile number on the EPFO portal and access UAN account in a hassle-free way.

Step 1: Firstly, the employees need to visit the official website of the EPFO 


Step 2: In the next step, click on the option ‘For Employees’ under the ‘Our Services’ tab.


Step 3: On the next page, click on the ‘Member UAN/Online Service (OCS/OTCP)’ under the Services menu.


Step 4: After that, members need to enter their UAN, password, and captcha details and then click on ‘Sign In’.


Step 5: After log in to the UAN portal, click on ‘Contact Details’ which can be found under the ‘Manage’ tab.


Step 6: On the next page, click on the ‘Change Mobile No.’ option.


Step 7: In the next step, employees need to enter the new mobile number twice in the respective boxes and click on ‘Get Authorization Pin’

Step 8: An OTP will be sent to the new mobile number. Employees are required to enter the OTP and click on ‘Submit’ button.

Step 9: Once the above step is completed, the new number will be updated on the EPFO portal.

Steps to Update Mobile Number in case if you have forgotten password

In case if you have forgotten your UAN password, then employees need to follow the steps mentioned below-

Step 1: Initially, the employees are required to visit the home page of EPFO


Step 2: On the next page that appears, enter the UAN and captcha details and click on the ‘Submit’ option.


Step 3: On the next page, there will be a request to send an OTP to the old mobile number. The employee needs to click on the ‘No’ option which can be found against the ‘Do you wish to send the OTP on the above mobile number?’

Step 4: Next, the employees are required to enter his/her name, date of birth, and gender.


Step 5: Once you have entered the above details, click on ‘Verify’ option.

Step 6: Next, select the method by which you would like to verify your details. Please, remember, you will be able to verify the details only when you will enter your valid PAN or Aadhaar number.

Step 7: Once the relevant details are entered, again click on ‘Verify’.

Step 8: After filling in the details, enter the new mobile number in the box provided and click on ‘Get OTP’ option.


Step 9: An OTP will be sent to the new mobile number of the employee. The employees are required to enter the OTP and click on ‘Verify’.

Step 10: Once the above steps are completed, employees will have the option to change the password. Passwords need to be entered twice in the boxes that are provided. Once the new password details have been entered, employees need to click on ‘Submit’.

Below-given are some of the advantages of updating your mobile number on the EPFO portal-

  • The members can easily check their PF balance by sending an SMS from their registered mobile number.
  • The status of the claim can also be checked by using the registered mobile number.
  • Contributions made into the EPF account are updated via SMS and are sent to the registered mobile number.
  • In case of EPF Withdrawal, once the process to credit the amount to the bank account has been initiated, the notification will be sent via SMS to the registered mobile number.
  • For transferring your amount from the previous member ID to the current one.
  • The process of validation is complete only after the OTP has been sent to your registered mobile number
