Garib Kalyan Rojgar Yojana
The Government of India has launched the Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyan initiative for tackling the impact of COVID 19 on Shramik and Rural Migrant workers in India. It is a rural work scheme launched in June 2020 with initial funding of Rs 50,000 Crore (US$7.0 billion). The Garib Kalyan Yojana scheme's objective is to give 125 days of employment to 670,000 migrant workers, approximately two-thirds of the total migrant laborer force that has gone back to rural areas. The scheme has covered almost 116 districts in 6 states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, and Jharkhand. The Garib Kalyan Yojana scheme is a joint effort of 12 different departments of the government of India.

The Ministry of Rural Development is authorized as the nodal Ministry for running this campaign. It is in close coordination with the State Governments. Central Nodal Officers of the rank of Joint Secretary and above will be appointed to oversee the effective and timely implementation of various schemes in the identified districts.
