Method to check EPF balance

Previously, the employees had to wait for their employer to furnish their EPF statement at the end of every year. Now, the EPF members can easily check their EPF balance online to know the present status of their EPF accounts.

There are four different methods to check the EPF balance which are mentioned below:

EPFO Portal

The employees can make use of the EPFO Portal to access their EPF passbook. Make sure you must have an active UAN member to check the same. Given below is the detailed process-

Step 1: Firstly, visit the EPFO Portal and click on ‘Our Services’.

Step 2: Then click on ‘For Employees’ under the ‘Our Services’ tab.

Step 3: Then, click on ‘Member Passbook’ which is under the ‘Services’ column.

 Missed Call

EPF members can also check their balance by placing a missed call on 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number. However, the employee’s Permanent Account Number (PAN), Aadhaar, and bank account number must be linked with their UAN to avail of this service. If the above details are not linked with your UAN, then you might request your employer to link them.

SMS Service

The EPF members with activated UAN can send an SMS to 7738299899 to check their PF balance and the last contribution. The format for the SMS should be EPFOHO UAN ENG. The preferred language that the employee would like to receive the details in is the last three letters. Currently, the facility is available in several languages such as Bengali, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Hindi apart from English. Make sure your PAN, Aadhaar, and bank details must be linked to the UAN to avail of this service.
