A total of three Aadhaar profiles can be created in the app. The app is well protected by the security password that the user must enter to open the app every time. This ensures that the Aadhaar data present in the app can only be accessed by the user himself or herself.
Compatibility of mAadhaar
At present, one can install the mAadhaar app only on smartphones working on Android 5.0 and above. This facility is yet to be available on an iOS variant of the mAadhaar.
Only that Aadhaar can be downloaded on in the app which is linked with the mobile number used in the phone.

How to do mAadhaar App installation
mAadhaar App can be installed only on Android Smartphones. You need to follow simple steps to download and install mAadhaar App:
- Visit Google play store https://goo.gl/WuSCCQ
- Click on the Install button
- Give required permissions to the app
- The app will be installed on your phone
- You must set a password for your app
- This password needs to be entered whenever you login the app
- The password must be of 4 digits and consists all numerals
- The password ensures that even if your phone is in unauthorized hands, your Aadhaar data is not compromised.
How to add profile in your mAadhaar App
A profile can only be added in your mAadhaar App When mobile number registered with Aadhaar is the same as being used in the smartphone.
Steps to add your profile in mAadhaar:
- Open the mAadhaar app
- Enter your password to login to the app
- Now select the three dots on the upper right corner of the interface
- Select the “Add profile” option
- Now enter your Aadhaar number or simply scan the QR code on your Aadhaar card
- Now enter your Aadhaar number or simply scan the QR code on your Aadhaar card
- Click on the Next button
- Give relevant permissions to the app to access your SMS
- An OTP is sent to the registered mobile number
- The app automatically detects the SMS from UIDAI and enters the OTP
- The app will download your Aadhaar details on your smartphone
- You can access it anytime you want to use your Aadhaar
- Both the front side as well as the back view of the Aadhaar is auto downloaded in the app
How to delete your profile in mAadhaar App
Once you remove the sim of your Aadhar linked mobile number, your profile in mAadhaar automatically gets deleted from your smartphone. In case of upgradation or switching of mobile number, you should delete your profile and then uninstall your mAadhaar app as a safety precaution before handling your phone to someone else. The process to do the same is as follows:
- Open the mAadhaar app
- Provide your password to login
- Click on your profile to open it
- Now select the three dots on the top right corner of the app
- Select the “Delete Profile” option
- You will be asked to enter your app’s password
- A message will be displayed asking whether you are sure to delete the profile
- Click on “Yes”
- Your profile will be deleted from the mAadhaar app
How to lock your biometric from mAadhaar App
- Log in to the mAadhaar app in your phone by putting your password and user id
- Click on your profile and open it
- Click on the “Biometric Settings” from the menu on top-right corner of the app
- Choose the “Enable Biometric Lock” option
- You will see a disclaimer which says that the biometrics may still be used for the next six hours
- Click on “OK”
- An OTP is sent to the registered mobile number
- The OTP is automatically fed by the app
- Your biometrics will be locked immediately
How to unlock your biometric from mAadhaar App
- Go to the top-right menu and click on “Biometric Settings”
- A message is displayed, “Your biometrics will be temporarily unlocked.”
- Click on “Yes”
- Your biometrics will be unlocked for 10 minutes

How to use the TOTP Feature in the mAadhaar App
TOTP means time-based OTP which is valid only for 30 seconds. To use the TOTP service, the user should have an active internet connection. Here is the step to use the TOTP feature in the mAadhaar App.
- Log in to your mAadhaar app by entering your password
- Select your profile and open it.
- In the lower half of the app, select the option “Show TOTP”.
- A new screen will appear with a six-digit TOTP.
- A clock moves continuously for 30 seconds.
- As soon as 30 seconds gets completed, the OTP is changed instantly.
- Below the TOTP, you can find your name and Aadhaar number.
