Sankranti is the first Hindu festival in the calendar year and is celebrated
either on the 14 or 15 January every year. The festival marks the transition of the
Sun from Sagittarius to Capricorn. Republic Day, a national holiday, is
celebrated in the same month as well on the 26.
The day honors the establishment of the Indian
constitution. In 2023, Holi, a popular Hindu festival, falls on 29 March
Monday. The festival is called the Festival of Colors and is celebrated in
several parts of the country.
