Independence Day

Every year Independence Day is celebrated on 15th August as a national holiday in India commemorating the nation's independence from the United Kingdom on 15th August 1947, the day when the UK Parliament has also passed the Indian Independence Act 1947 transferring legislative sovereignty to the Indian Constituent Assembly.

How the day is celebrated?

This day is celebrated throughout the country. However, the flag hosting is done at the Red Fort, Delhi along with other festivities. On this day, patriotic parades and pageants are organised to honour the freedom fighters. Also, a march-past is organised which is led by the Indian armed forces and paramilitary forces and performances by school children.

The National Anthem is also recited by everyone along with the hosting of the national flag. Schools and colleges also celebrate this day with great joy. Patriotic songs are also played through loudspeakers all day.
